It’s the kind of memorial rock stars dream of … famed Sunset Strip nightclub Whisky a Go Go — where The Doors got their start back in the 60s — will be honoring Ray Manzarek on its marquee for the rest of the week, TMZ has learned.A rep for the famed rock club tells us, the marquee memorial will stay up tonight through Saturday — and every show in the meantime will be dedicated in Manzarek’s honor. The rep says the club will also be briefly “going dark” tonight at 8pm in remembrance. As we reported, Manzarek — one of the founding members of the iconic rock band — passed away today following a long battle with bile duct cancer. He was 74.The Doors were playing as the house band at the Whisky — opening for acts like Van Morrison — when a record exec discovered them and gave the band their first big record deal.Read more: http://www.tmz.com/2013/05/20/the-doors-whisky-a-go-go-ray-manzarek-dead-tribute-memorial/#ixzz2TtGrbNSu

Chris Cobb, an artist based in San Francisco, has created an amazing installation in bookshop called Adobe Books- he catalogued every single one of the 20,000 books by color. The project is titled There is Nothing Wrong in This Whole Wide World. They were arranged by hand over a 10 hour period, and he enlisted the help of 16 volunteers. Such beautiful results, they transformed the bookshop overnight.

This is Rose Valland, one of the heroes of Nazi-Occupied France. An employee of the Louvre, she kept records of the art stolen by Nazi officers—what was taken, from where, and by whom. She was instrumental in the postwar return of countless stolen pieces, and one of the most decorated women in French history.

Artist’s statement:

“The world seems to me increasingly incomprehensible, and there are times when I feel there isn’t anything that I know for certain. For me, making photographs (or painting, or whatever) is necessary to translate the unintelligible reality of being into a more coherent form. Or at least to illustrate my best guesses. There is vastly more nothing in the universe than something, and I try to create images that recognize the grace by which anything at all exists.”
